I am a guitar player from Brazil. My relationship to the instrument goes as far as I can remember, and I have played music professionally for over a decade now. I really like to teach Guitar, Improvisation, Music Theory and Harmony and also concepts from the immense musical universe that the music of my home country offers: Bossa Nova, Samba, Baião, and many more. I hold a Master’s Degree from NYU, and since moving to NYC two years ago I became very fond of discovering all the new cultures that the city offers, both personally and musically. As a sideman, bandleader, and in educational opportunities, I have performed, apart from in New York, in New Orleans (USA), Seattle (USA), Los Angeles(USA) and San Jose (Costa Rica), among other places, always with the pursuit for expression through improvisation and reverence for the freedom manifested in many musical expressions across the Americas as the main driving force in my endeavors.
I offer electric bass, double bass and music theory lessons to students of all ages and levels. With an emphasis on ear training and technique, I follow the students’ musical interests as a vessel for accomplishing their goals. With a masters degree in classical bass and over 12 years of teaching under my belt, I have a very intentional and well tested method for teaching technique, sight reading, classical repertoire and playing orchestral and chamber music. I am also very passionate about teaching pop, rock, jazz, building bass lines and improvisation and demystifying the music theory that goes into being a bassist.
